We need bees and butterflies as they are essential to biodiversity. Although small, these pollinators are vital to the ecosystem. They pollinate flowers and plants that provide food and nourishment to many of earth's creatures, including humans. In 2014, Wired Magazine reported that about one-third of the bumblebee species were in decline. The decline of monarch butterflies is also a concern.
These are ways you can start to support butterflies and bees:
1. Plant a bee-friendly Non-GMO wildflower garden
2. Garden organically
3. Use companionate-planting techniques instead of pesticides (ie. planting garlic bulbs next to roses wards off unwanted pests)
4. Plant native species at each season to provide pollinators with yearlong blooms
